Owning a second home in Florida is a dream—the warm winters, the coastal lifestyle, the memories with family and friends. But when you’re hundreds of miles away, that dream can come with worry. I experienced it firsthand after buying our Florida home while still living in New Jersey. Every day we weren’t here, I wondered: Is the house safe? What if a storm hits? What if something breaks and I don’t know for weeks?

Those concerns became reality when two kitchen leaks caused significant damage—ruined flooring, damaged cabinetry, and costly repairs. It showed me how quickly small issues can turn into big problems.
